Once upon a time there was a boy named Tom, who grew up to be a man named Tom, (although he has recorded music using his Buddhist name Yeshe. Yeshe means wisdom). Before this life he was a Star, and after this life he will be a star, only brighter than the time before.
In between then and now Tom has been living a life that looks similar to most lives. He can breathe, talk, laugh, walk and dream. What Tom does differently than most people is he listens to his heart and has followed it across oceans and lands filling his life with breath tempered by tastes and sounds alive with unknown. Tom has made peace with the Unknown and I think that is what allows him to no be known by a Spirit of adventure driven largely by his interest in finding how to open the window that looks out on fields of laughter and mountains of joy.
If he were to hesitate and ponder the correctness of his heart he would be a lot more like most people, a bit too afraid to don a headset and chant into a computer at the Apple Store just to see how THAT worked, but as you will see he does this with the delight and wonder common to the love of discovery found in childhood.
It is my de”light” to know the star/man disguised as Tom because listening to laughter that twinkles and a voice that rings in harmony with the ancient kosmos has been a guide for me that points to the Source of how to live in this joy and Love.
I sent my my Mom the video of Tom chanting “Om Namah Shivaya.” They live in two different countries and it is quite likely they will never meet so I thought this was a fantastic opportunity to show her Who my friend Tom is. She typed back later in the day, “That’s very nice dear, but I don’t know what he’s saying.” I phoned her back later in the day and said, “Om Namah Shivaya is a chant, or a mantra that people say while meditating or to each other and it signifies a recognition of the Divine with in each person.” And she replied, “Oh, you mean like Good Morning.” I smiled and thought how blissful it would be if Good Morning could mean so much, but I answered and said no it was more sacred than a simple greeting, but as I think about it now I think she was perhaps more correct than I first realized. How blessed it is to live our lives among dear friends who create new beginnings with each breath and every utterance of Om Namah Shivaya! Thank you Tom!
